Twingates Christmas Dental Survival Guide

The holiday season is upon us, and we are all eager to indulge in our favourite sweets
and treats. However, we must refrain from dental decay in the new year. In this month's
blog, we will talk about some simple steps that you can take to minimize the risk of this
issue.

1) Keep up the dental routine: Minimize the risk of dental decay by regularly brushing
and flossing your teeth. Keeping up your routine will allow you to avoid getting cavities
and other oral health issues.

2) Limit snacking: During the holidays, it can be hard to keep track of what you are
eating and drinking, so try to limit your snacking between those big meals and ensure
that youre eating healthy and balanced food options.

3)Watch out for that sorrel drink: You should be careful with your beverage choices,
especially when it comes to soft drinks and wine and the beloved sorrel drink, as these
can cause staining and damage your teeth. Limit your consumption, drink water
between glasses, and have some nuts and cheese. Snacking on nuts and cheese after
will increase saliva and calcium exposure which can help neutralize acids and sugars
and strengthen enamel.

4) Don’t brush too soon: After an acid attack from all the food and drinks, your enamel
is weakened, and your enamel may take up to an hour to recover and brushing during
an acid attack will cause further deterioration of the enamel.

Christmas is a time to indulge with family and friends- but please remember
MODERATION is best!

The team at Twingates Dental would like to wish a Merry Christmas to all our patients
and to thank you for your support. During the Christmas period, we will be closing our
doors from December 22 to January 3, 2023.
